Matt’s brother Dan was married in July.  We took some family pictures, here they are:

 

The Heart of a Lion

Our little Madie is 16 months old.  She is absolutely fearless!  Matt says she has the heart of a lion.  Since she has been able to walk at 1 year, here are a few of the things she has done:

• Crawled to the top of any slide, no matter how high, and throws herself down—sometimes sliding, sometimes falling…laughing all the way
• Runs through any kind of water
• Throws herself into the deep end of a pool, life jacket or not.
• Wants to jump off a boat going 40 mph (luckily Matt had a good grip on her)
• Has ridden on a tube behind a boat with both grandma and dad
• Has eaten leafs, dirt, flowers, algae (from Clear Lake), and probably many more non-edible items that I haven’t caught her with

Happy Birthday Jackson!

Jackson turned 6 on July 30th.  He had a cool Clear Lake Birthday Party, went out to ice cream, and is having his friend birthday party on Saturday—complete with a slip n’ slide and cup cake bar—I will post pictures.  Tomorrow he starts first grade!  The time sure flies by—we love you Jackson! 

 

A side note:  Jackson received the “Big Brother” award from his kindergarten teacher this year.  We are so proud of him!  That definitely describes our Jackson—kind, loving, loyal and always taking care of everyone. 

Swim Lessons

Jackson and Reagan took two months of swimming lessons—May and June.  What a difference it has made!  They are all over the place in the pool/lake…  Here are some pictures:

Baby Sage #4

For the two of you guys that don’t already know (It’s amazing how fast word travels on Facebook), we are expecting our 4th baby in January.  Its hard to believe that adding one more to our little bit of chaos that we call the Sage Family is a good idea, but we couldn’t be happier.  Jackson, of course, would like a brother.  Reagan originally wanted a brother named Jesus, but since we finally convinced her that she already has a brother named Jesus, she decided a sister named Karla (?) would be fine.  We have lots to post, but I have little energy to do so right now..stay tuned.

Learning to Serve

Our Stake participated in the Helping Hands service project(s) on Saturday. Matt and I realize how important it is for our children to not only see examples of service, but to begin serving others and their community as young as possible. We thought we might take our entire family to the project, but then thought the girls at 1 and 3 might not be a lot of help pulling weeds, etc. So Matt, being the amazing dad that he is, took Jackson. He had no idea that he would be hiking 1/2 mile straight up a steep hill, through brush (no trail) with Jackson on his shoulders, to paint a famous orange rock (good thing we didn’t attempt that with Madie in the stroller :)).

It was quite the accomplishment, but the best part, Jackson absolutely loved painting the Pumpkin Rock and at the same time a lesson was being learned—service is not always easy (although in this case it was fun for him!), but necessary to our eternal progression.

It reminded me of how important it is to find those ways to help and serve others along our way and to teach our children this important principle, as well.

So Blessed…
